Add zvena to the Home Screen of your iPhone or iPad
There is no zvena app in the App Store yet. Add zvena to your Home Screen from Safari instead: it opens in its own window, without Safari's address bar, and can send you notifications.
Updated
Add zvena to the Home Screen
On iOS and iPadOS 26 or later, in Safari:
Open zvena.app in Safari.
Tap the menu button next to the address bar (≡ on iOS 27, ⋯ on iOS 26), then tap Share.
iPad: Tap Share next to the address bar. If you don't see it, tap the menu button (≡ or ⋯) first.
Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
Leave Open as Web App on, then tap Add.
Open zvena from your Home Screen and sign in.
On iOS 18 and earlier, Share is the square with an arrow in Safari's toolbar. Tap it, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- If Add to Home Screen isn't in the list, scroll to its end, tap Edit Actions and add it.
- On iPad, the Share button is in Safari's toolbar at the top of the screen; the rest is the same.
- Since iOS 26, every site you add to the Home Screen opens as a web app as long as Open as Web App stays on. With it off, the icon is only a bookmark that opens a Safari tab, without notifications.
You can also open zvena.app/download on the iPhone or iPad: it shows the same steps.
Sign in again in the app
The Home Screen app keeps its own sign-in and its own data, apart from Safari. Open it from the Home Screen and sign in once more; Safari stays signed in as it was. The app then appears in Settings → Account → Devices.
Turn on notifications
- Open zvena from the Home Screen, not from a Safari tab: iOS lets only Home Screen apps send notifications (iOS and iPadOS 16.4 or later).
- Tap Enable notifications when zvena offers it (once, after you install), then Allow. iOS asks only after a tap, so zvena can't turn them on by itself.
Change it later in the iPhone's Settings → Notifications → zvena, and choose what you hear about in zvena's notification settings. More in Notifications.
What to know
- Use Safari to add it. Chrome, Edge and Firefox on iPhone and iPad can also add a site to the Home Screen from their Share menu, but the steps and pictures here are Safari's.
- Offline changes are sent the next time you open zvena. What you change without a connection is saved on the device. iOS doesn't let Home Screen apps work in the background, so the changes go out when you open zvena again with a connection; the bar at the top says when everything is sent. See Working offline.
- Your data stays while you use the app. In Safari, iOS may delete what a website keeps on the device after seven days of using Safari without visiting it. A Home Screen app counts its own days of use, so what zvena keeps stays as long as you open it.
- No Share menu entry. iOS doesn't let Home Screen apps appear in other apps' Share menu, so you can't share a link or a file to zvena from there. Copy the link and paste it into zvena instead.
Remove it
Touch and hold the zvena icon on the Home Screen, tap Remove App (or Delete Bookmark) and confirm. This deletes what zvena kept on the device; your work stays in your account. The device stays in Settings → Account → Devices until you sign it out there.
