Terms of Service
Effective date: October 15, 2026
Summary
- zvena is free. You keep all rights to what you create; we only store and show it so the Service works.
- Don’t use zvena for anything illegal or harmful. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.
- You can export your data and delete your account at any time. If we ever shut zvena down, we will give you at least 30 days to take your data with you.
- The Service is provided “as is”; please keep your own copies of important work.
1. Accepting these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and [Company name] (“we”, “us”) about your use of zvena, the workspace at zvena.app and its Docs and Design tools (the “Service”). By signing in or otherwise using the Service you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you use zvena on behalf of an organization, you agree to these Terms for it and confirm that you are authorized to do so. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who can use zvena
You must be at least 13 years old. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, if you are under 16 (or the lower age set by your local law), you may use zvena only with the consent of a parent or guardian. You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law, including sanctions laws.
3. Accounts and sign-in
- You sign in with Google, GitHub or a one-time link sent to your e-mail address. There are no passwords. You are responsible for keeping access to those accounts and your e-mail inbox secure, and for activity under your zvena account.
- Give us accurate information and keep your e-mail address current. If sign-in methods report the same verified e-mail address, they open the same account.
- Do not share your account or let others use it; invite teammates to a workspace instead.
- Tell us promptly at support@zvena.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
- You can use Docs without an account. Guest documents live only in your browser, and files you upload as a guest are deleted after 30 days without a visit.
4. The Service and the free plan
zvena gives you Design, a vector design and prototyping tool based on the open-source Penpot project, and Docs, pages and databases for your team, organized into workspaces with roles (owner, editor, commenter, viewer). The Service is free: there is no trial, no paid plan and no advertising.
Each account currently includes 2 GB of storage shared across documents, files and designs. We may set or change reasonable limits (such as storage, members or workspaces) to keep the Service sustainable. We will give notice of changes that reduce limits, and we will not delete content you already stored because of a new limit without warning you first.
We keep improving zvena and may add, change or remove features. If we remove a significant feature you rely on, we will tell you in advance where reasonably possible.
5. Your content
You own your content. Documents, designs, comments and files you create or upload (“Content”) remain yours, or your licensors’. To run the Service you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you, the members of your workspaces, and anyone you share a link with. The license ends when the Content is deleted from the Service (backups roll off within 14 days).
We do not use your Content for advertising and we never use it to train artificial intelligence models. We access Content only to provide the Service, to investigate reports, security issues or legal requests, or when you ask us for help.
Shared workspaces. The workspace owner controls who is a member and what role they have. Members’ contributions stay available to the workspace when they leave. If the owner deletes their account, ownership passes to the next member. Settle rights in shared work among yourselves.
You are responsible for your Content and confirm that you have the rights needed to upload and share it, and that it does not break these Terms or the law.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use zvena to create, store, publish or share:
- content that is illegal where you are, or that promotes illegal activity;
- child sexual abuse material or any content that sexualizes or exploits minors — we report it to the relevant authorities;
- harassment, threats, bullying, or hateful content attacking people based on protected characteristics;
- content that promotes or incites violence, terrorism or violent extremism, or encourages self-harm;
- malware, phishing pages, scams or other deceptive content, including impersonation of people or organizations;
- spam or unsolicited bulk messages, including through public pages and forms;
- content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
- other people’s personal or confidential information without the right to share it, including doxxing.
And do not:
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or bypass security, authentication or limits (please report vulnerabilities to support@zvena.app instead);
- interfere with or overload the Service, or use it in a way that harms other users;
- scrape, crawl or collect data from the Service or other users by automated means, except through features we provide;
- reverse engineer the Service’s security measures, or access it through unauthorized means;
- create accounts in bulk, or resell or rent access to the Service.
The open-source parts of zvena are licensed separately (see section 9); these rules govern use of our hosted Service.
7. Reports and moderation
We do not review Content in advance and have no obligation to do so. Anyone can report content at zvena.app/report, and public pages, forms and designs have a “Report” button. We review reports and may remove or restrict Content, take down public links, or suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or the law. Where appropriate and allowed, we will tell you what we did and why, and you can ask us to reconsider by writing to support@zvena.app.
8. Copyright complaints
We respect intellectual property rights and respond to notices of alleged infringement under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and similar laws. To report Content that you believe infringes your copyright, send a notice to our designated agent containing:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed;
- the link to the material you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it;
- your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address;
- a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them.
Designated agent: Copyright Agent, [Company name], [Company address]; e-mail: support@zvena.app.
Counter-notice. If your Content was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same agent with your signature; the removed material and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; your name, address and telephone number; and your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts for your address (or, outside the US, any judicial district in which we may be found) and to accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice. We may restore the material after 10 business days unless the complainant tells us they have filed a court action.
We close the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
9. Open source
zvena Design is a modified version of Penpot, licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. The complete source code of our modified version is available on the Source code page. The Docs editor is built on BlockNote and other open-source libraries under their own licenses. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under those licenses. Penpot and other third-party names and trademarks belong to their owners. The zvena name and logo are ours; do not use them in a way that suggests endorsement without our permission.
10. Third-party services
Signing in with Google or GitHub is subject to those providers’ own terms. Content may include links to or embeds of third-party websites; we are not responsible for them. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them freely without obligation to you.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using zvena at any time. Settings lets you download all your data and delete your account. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if your use creates risk or legal exposure for us or others. Where possible we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data, unless that would be unlawful or create a risk of harm.
If we decide to discontinue the Service, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance and keep data export available during that time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as sections 12–14, 16 and 17) survive.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
We back up data regularly and work hard to keep zvena running, but we cannot guarantee that no data will ever be lost. Keep your own copies of important work using the export in Settings.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, [Company name] and its affiliates, officers, employees and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Because the Service is free, our total liability for all claims relating to the Service or these Terms is limited to one hundred US dollars (US$100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions or limitations, so they may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify [Company name] against claims, damages and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your Content or your breach of these Terms or the law. This does not apply to consumers where the law does not allow it.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date above and, for material changes, tell you in advance by e-mail or in the Service. Signed-in users are asked to accept the new version before continuing to use zvena. If you do not agree, you can export your data and delete your account.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of [State, Country], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another country with mandatory consumer protection laws, you also keep the protection of those laws and may bring proceedings in the courts where you live. Before going to court, please contact us at support@zvena.app — most issues can be solved quickly.
17. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with notice to you. These Terms are written in English; any translation is for convenience only.
